Arrival means Equipo chaperones you from Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport on an informative drive to Villa de Leyva followed by local hospitality including a generous welcoming dinner along with comfortable accommodations
NOTE: We will pickup travelers to head towards Boyaca latest by 3 pm either from the airport or hotels in Bogota.
Today’s ride begins towards the quaint, colonial town of Villa de Leyva and we continue for another 95 km passing country village towns of Sachica, Sutamarchan and Tinjaca.
Later in the afternoon, we join a wine tour in the outskirts of Villa de Leyva – Winery Marques de Villa de Leyva. This local winery its been producing wine for the last 29 years.
Dinner in Villa de Leyva plaza – Pizza night
After a warm Colombian breakfast we will head towards Quintana’s hometown and a look at where he grew up. We’re starting today’s ride at over 2,500m and the 100 km will be challenging. The ride exhibits all the disciplines that underpin this lauded Colombian cyclist’s profound career as climbs, rollers, descents and flats all find a place on the route, backed by well-timed refueling breaks and a dinner to top off an unforgettable journey.
We will ride from Boyaca towards Bogota to stopover in the colonial town of Zipaquira. This little town is very well known for its unique and one-of-a-kind Cathedral of Salt. Our challenging ride will be full of rollers, false flats and small. Crossing many villages in the region we pass by colonial villages of Chiquinquira, Suza, Uvate and many great viewpoints.

Today’s ride will take us to Honda – Tolima. Honda is 20km away from Mariquita, the beginning of the climb to Alto de Letras. Ride from Zipaquira to Guaduas 100K.
The beginning of the ride has a combination of gorgeous mountain views, amazing descents, small climbs and false flats, the perfect formula to be ready for Letras. We’ll return to the hotel for a light massage followed by dinner at a local favorite restaurant, Nery, and we’ll turn in early this evening for a fresh start for tomorrow’s Queen stage.
The Queen Stage. The day’s challenges begin early with a 2-4% inclination to warm up for first 20km towards Mariquita. Riders will scarcely notice this bump, though, as what awaits are two hors categorie climbs over the next 82km totaling almost 12,000 of climbing. It’s a monstrosity and a challenge to all cyclists no matter your toughness. It will feel like crossing different countries as the terrain on sea level starts with high humidity switching to tropical climate surrounding us with coffee plantations and endless species of birds as we surprass 3,000 meters.
The bike riding will continue around the Coffee region of Caldas heading South to Pereira we are sure that the views and energy of this region will delight your eyes, hears and sense of smell of coffee beans. This 80km ride is the perfect way to loosen up our legs after Letras.
Exclusive culinary experience– farm-to-table dinner this evening
We circle the coffee region to include the colorful village of Salento along with Valle del Cocora and its mystical, towering wax palms. We ride towards Tres Puertas to descend to Alcala, crossing fast to quiet villages of Quimbaya, to climb the wide open roads of Autopista del Café heading to Salento and Valle del Cocora. We ride past endless plantations of pitaya, papaya, coffee and plantain in all directions. We’ll make a stop for a typical Colombian lunch with fresh trucha or trout. We have an optional return to the hotel in SAG vehicles or get in more miles on bikes. Tonight’s dinner is at a delightful Colombian dinner at Helena Adentro Restaurant.

On the final stage, we ride to Llanogrande towards San Antonio, climbing La Union, an 8 km climb with beautiful mountain landscapes. We continue towards Carisales and loop back to Alto de Las Palmas to stop for lunch for a most authentic ‘bandeja paisa’ typical Colombian lunch platter served with egg, meats, avocado rice and plantain. Dinner this evening is at Cafe Zorba – a local favorite Italian cafe.
